IT-Compact – Features of a creative alternative for IT management of server rooms and data centers.

  • 1. Theory and reality.

    1. Theory and reality.

This realization affects everyone: If IT is not available, the company dies brain death. But especially for smaller data centers and server room projects up to about 10 racks, life-support measures are not always easy to implement. This is because a suitable concept requires numerous considerations until it is ready for implementation: From BSI IT basic protection, Bitkom recommendations, US Tier I-IV classifications, BISG or the future data center standard DIN EN 50600 to the requirements of auditors and insurers, a wide range of aspects must be taken into account and included in the planning.

We at Conect have learned from the changing requirements over many years and have acquired in-depth know-how in the planning and realization of turnkey server rooms and data centers. Inevitably, this has resulted in our own solutions, which have made some tasks feasible in the first place.

    2. We cannot change the laws of nature.
But we can make better use of them.

Everything that concerns investment, efficiency and maintenance effort stands and falls with the right concept. Let’s take an example: some IT cooling systems offered on the market initially promise convincing performance. But because considerable drive energy is required to transport heat transfer media such as water or air, the energy balance of the entire system deteriorates. Our careful selection of sustainable, and thus IT-compatible components and systems for the respective application creates the proven good IT Compact efficiency. This equips you for future environmental audits or RAL UZ 161 Blue Angel certifications. With IT Compact you acquire Green IT.

  • 3. PUE/EUE values and their representation in PS-E monitoring.

    3. PUE/EUE values and their
    representation in PS-E monitoring.

The PUE value reflects the ratio of the electrical energy supplied to the entire server/RC operation in relation to the consumption of the pure IT devices. It indicates the efficiency of the IT operation. The EUE value represents the annual efficiency value.

In the future, it will be important for IT management to know these values in order to eliminate weaknesses and identify potential savings. Our PS-E Monitoring provides you with this key figure and displays it on request. As a side effect, this provides you with an instrument for meeting certain IT compliance requirements.

  • 4. The IT Compact PS-E Monitoring.

    4. The IT Compact PS-E Monitoring.

Data Centre Infrastructure Monitoring (DCIM) for recording contact messages, temperature, humidity, voltages, currents, power or fault messages with web functionality are standard in every IT area. Interfaces for transfer to higher-level systems such as Nagios, PRTG or Open View are also standard.
In addition to these standards, our PS-E system communicates redundantly on different reporting paths and thus avoids the dreaded single point of failure in IT, also in the area of system monitoring.

  • 5. The IT Compact 19`` Rack as the basis for IT equipment.

    5. The IT Compact 19″ Rack as the basis for IT equipment.

Whoever wants to set up compact IT landscapes in small spaces or in containers has to think about functionality and dimensions. Convincing cable routing systems and PDU connections in conjunction with 19″ standard spars up to 46 U from renowned manufacturers ensure compatibility and clarity when installing servers and equipment.

  • 6. Full functionality even with a 660 mm rack width.

    6. Full functionality even with a 660 mm rack width.

Even with the smallest axis dimension of 660 mm rack width of our freely scalable rack dimensions, convenient 4-way functionality of the infrastructure connection is ensured with optimal space utilisation.

  • 7. PS power supply in compact 19`` format.

    7. PS power supply in compact 19″ format.

Our experience with IT supplies and small footprints led us to develop this system. The hallmarks: Compact design, can also be mounted in the IT rack area or in the wall cabinet system, with graphic interface and imprinted operating instructions, designed as a 5-wire TN-S system to ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in the data centre.

    .

Installed behind safety glass doors, the overview is maintained without the risk of unintentional tripping. And modular mapping of higher TIER levels, Bitkom classes or BISG is also assured.

    8. How comfortable do you feel operating
    your IT energy supply?

Insurance studies have shown that as many as 18% of all IT failures are due to operating errors. This is reason enough for us to provide IT managers with our PS Energy Supply, a system that deserves the name “user guidance” and saves you uncertainties and ultimately also the risk of long nights.

  • 9. Integration of UPS and NEA equipment in the IT-Compact system.

    9. Integration of UPS and NEA equipment
    in the IT-Compact system.

We use the word “system” because it underpins our claim to be able to map or integrate all technical systems required for operation. Our selection of suitable UPS systems of compact design and highest efficiency, in connection with suitable emergency power units (NEA) of renowned manufacturers, rounds off the package of our delivery spectrum.

The word “system” is used because it underpins our claim to be able to map or integrate all technical systems required for operation.

It is important that systems and components match each other and are also coordinated in terms of running and bridging times.

    How do you ensure that?

Designing and implementing good solutions in a sustainable way is one important task. Another is to keep such structures “up and running” for years without failures. The qualitative basis for your lasting IT availability is therefore our sophisticated system of checklists and maintenance records for every technology segment of the infrastructure – and without excessive administration.

    Quite simple in principle.

Many of our ideas and solutions have been developed in dialogue with our customers. For example, when they have asked us in the project: “Couldn’t we just ……? Such requests are particularly important to us, and they spur us on again and again to new solutions.

The best prerequisite for realising a “simple” solution is complex knowledge and experience in several specialist areas, i.e. our know-how, which we have built up over many years. Therefore, we look forward to realising “simple” good solutions together with you also in the future.

    12. Another win at the end:
    Abandonment of raised floors.

In the past, raised floors were essential as part of the IT set-up. The idea of the IT-Compact Server Centre to arrange IT supply structures above the racks makes the raised floor, and thus an expensive investment, superfluous.
